Collection of Climate Change Issues
The first activity of the project, coordinated by the Escola de Segunda Oportunidade, plays a crucial role. It enables schools to initiate a process of raising awareness on the topic of Climate Change, directly involving students, who are the true protagonists of this phase and the entire project.
How is the activity carried out?
The A2 activity is divided into 5 main phases:
Creation of working tools: AE20 develops a standard template for collecting issues and news related to climate change, which will be used by all project partners.
Collection of Climate Issues: Teachers from the three involved countries propose the activity in their schools, engaging at least 50 students per school. Each student is invited to identify a piece of news or an issue related to climate change that they find important or particularly concerning.
Selection of 10 Climate Issues per country: Students, working in groups, select 10 issues from those gathered in the previous phase, considering them the most significant. They then translate them into English.
Sharing of Climate Issues: Each school shares the 10 selected issues through the online collaboration platform and the project website.
Creation of an article and an infographic: AE20 is responsible for creating an article and an infographic that summarize the process and key results obtained from this activity.
Through A2, the foundation and materials will be created on which the theatrical performances will be developed later. It will also provide insight into which news stories resonate with students and why, as there will be a reflection space for them.
Results:
1 template for collecting Climate Issues developed by AE20. This template is very useful and easy to use. You can read and download it HERE.
150 Climate Issues individually collected by 150 students (50 per country), also including students' reflections on the emotional impact of the news. The issues are in Italian, English, Portuguese, and Czech. You can read and download them HERE.
