Between July and October 2024, several online meetings were held with representatives of the VOCE Project. Following these discussions, an in-person meeting was organized on October 15th, 2024, in the Aula Magna of our school. The meeting took place from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and involved the teachers of the Volta Team, as well as three specific classes: 3AC, 3AGR, and 4AGR.
This initiative aimed to collect news, articles, and concerns related to climate change that resonate with our students. After a brief introduction by the environmental chemistry teachers present, the activity began with a short awareness-raising session on the topic. Two specific learning methodologies were employed: brainstorming, followed by cooperative learning activities.
The students were divided into groups, with each group focusing on a specific topic. Using their personal devices, they searched for digital materials and engaged in collaborative work to achieve their objectives and complete the assigned tasks. This process allowed students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills, while also enhancing their ability to work in teams. Additionally, their language skills improved as they accessed and analyzed resources in their original languages.
Throughout the activity, the teachers monitored the groups, ensuring active participation and meaningful engagement. The themes and issues identified by the students were initially recorded using a template provided by our Portuguese colleagues. Subsequently, the information was transferred to a Google form shared by the same colleagues.
The Volta Team selected 10 topics that best aligned with the project's goals and submitted them to the Smascherati contact person, along with this report.
Parallel to this, students worked on creating logos for the project. Under the guidance and supervision of their graphic design teacher, they designed images that captured the essence of the project's title. These logos were uploaded to the Discord platform, where students and teachers involved in the project voted for their favorites.
The Volta Team continues to hold regular online meetings to review progress and ensure the successful implementation of each step required by the project.
